Piglet Mindset® School Visits

Our program is entertaining and fun, but the primary goal of our Piglet Mindset School Visits is to emphasize and reinforce Piglet's message and lessons of positivity, resilience, compassion, and kindness.

Classroom and school visits begin with a short Powerpoint presentation. We follow with a live tap signal demo by Piglet and his deafblind brother Georgie. We do a short Q & A if there's time.

The format is flexible, adaptable, and can be customized to different size groups and number of presentations requested. We realistically can do 3 one hour presentations in one day.

Zoom, Facetime, or Google Meet Sessions are a virtual alternative to an in-person school or classroom visit. Virtual Visits with Piglet and his pack are adaptable to a wide range of applications throughout the school year. Virtual sessions are a great addition to an end of the school year Pink Party.

ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org.

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

Little Evie is feeling content and happy after her Little Evie is feeling content and happy after her scary episode and chemo treatment last week. She is a very resilient dog with an amazing attitude towards whatever comes her way.

Seeing her resting like this is a relief. Getting used to the idea of one of my dogs having cancer is rough. It really is a process that takes alot of thought and acceptance of the reality of the diagnosis.

I don't want to get lulled into being too happy when she looks and feels fine. But then when I think about it, yes, I actually do. Worrying and focusing on the negative is just not a helpful mindset right now.

Goodnight all.🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐶😊🧁🩷
Our tiny chocolate chip dog Zoey is 11 years old. Our tiny chocolate chip dog Zoey is 11 years old. Over the past year her right eye has developed a dense cataract. Since her left eye is still visual we have decided not to go forward with cataract surgery, yet.

Zoey can see with her left eye but she is blind in her right. When I look at pictures, there's a constant reminder that she is not the Zoey of the past. She's a senior dog who probably will need cataract surgery at some point. I still see her adorable face but there's no question that the cataract is a distraction on many levels.

I would never do surgery on little Zoey to improve her looks but there's no question that it's hard to look past her white cataract on pictures and videos.

Her personality is pretty much the same. As she gets older she's more cranky and grumbly which is pretty typical of little dogs of her breed mix. But her enthusiasm for treats, taking walks, going out in the car, traveling, and snuggling in fleece blankets on laps has not changed!

I'm just posting this bc this is one of those strange decisions/conflicts in caring for an older dog. Doing surgery is not wrong or right at this time. There are positives and negatives to both sides. I tend to stay on the conservative end which is where we are now.

Please share your experiences with cataract surgery decisions and outcomes for your dogs.
Senior Saturday from our little nook in the world. Senior Saturday from our little nook in the world.

Dean is 15 years old. He has severe arthritis and mobility issues. Lately he's been skipping meals and losing weight.

Exam and bloodwork don't show any reasons for his supposed decreased appetite. That's bc he doesn't have a decreased appetite.

Deanie actually has trouble grabbing food into his mouth. So after a while, he stops trying and walks away.

I was considering giving him an appetite stimulant until I realized he needed help eating. I either hand feed him from my hand or use a spoon to hold the food in front of his mouth.

He doesn't mind which is why I'm happy to offer him the help. Dignity and quality of life are in the balance right now. He has mostly good enough days, but things are closing in at this point.

Our priority is for Dean to feel good about being here with his family and thankfully he still does.

The lymph nodes under her jaw are the ones that are enlarged. They are easy to feel when petting her in her favorite spot under her jaw. This is how I originally noticed there was a problem.

She had a treatment 3 days ago with a new medication. Tonight her lymph nodes are smaller and softer which is so nice for her and me.

Since we don't know how she'll do in the short or long term, our focus is primarily on how she's feeling day to day. You can see that she's pretty much herself right now which makes today a really good one.

As a veterinarian, I’m very intentional about what I give my dogs as they move into their middle and senior years.

That’s why Leap Years, a combination NAD booster and senolytic supplement, fits so seamlessly into Piglet’s routine. It’s a science-backed supplement designed to support healthy aging at the cellular level, proactively, before cognitive and other issues arise.

We’re grateful for Leap Years and its high-quality ingredients for supporting Piglet's cellular health and longevity, so he can keep doing what he loves most. For us, that kind of care is an act of love, and it’s safe to say Piglet appreciates it as he gobbles up his Leap Years chew every morning!

Some people think that my deafblind dog Piglet doesn't know what's going on around him. But I vehemently disagree!
When the day isn't going well for one, there are a When the day isn't going well for one, there are always dogs to bring a little joy into the sadness.

Our little Evie had some serious issues today at her chemotherapy appointment. Thankfully she recovered and is feeling much better tonight (watch to the end!).

It's not that having a big dog family makes it any easier to accept and deal with illness. But it's hard to avoid smiling when there are so many adorable dogs doing cute things.
Deanie's having a tough time. He will be 15 in Feb Deanie's having a tough time. He will be 15 in Feb. He has progressive arthritis in his spine and other joints. He's been doing well enough for a very long time but over the past few weeks he's noticeably having more trouble getting around, standing up to eat, and eating. He's a very clean dog and he's been having accidents in the house despite us taking him out very frequently throughout the day. He needs help getting in and out of the house. He wears a harness and we have a ramp.

He is not a complainer. He moves slowly but is still engaged with his dog and human family and friends. He loves the other dogs, especially his Annie and Lucy.

I carry him upstairs at night now so he can be in his bed in our room with all the other dogs. He sleeps through the night. No vocalizing which is common in dogs his age.

Watching him struggle is tough. I'm constantly questioning his quality of life and thinking about when it would be time to let him go peacefully. I want him to maintain his dignity and keep him as pain free as possible.

This weekend I really thought it was time. He is rallying a bit but the time is coming. Each dog's situation is different. Dean has aged gracefully. He survived malignant thyroid cancer which was diagnosed and treated with surgery 3 years ago.

For now we're supporting our Deanie with meds, supplements, good food, and alot of love.

Goodnight to the tiny deaf blind pink puppy who ju Goodnight to the tiny deaf blind pink puppy who just turned 9. No one imagined the impact he would have and the lives he would change when he first arrived as a screaming one pound baby dog.

But with love, support, and kindness, he was able to find his center and move ahead to become an inspiration to children and adults who have their own obstacles and challenges.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for Piglet tonight. It was an awesome party. We raised $ to support our Piglet Mindset School Visits, and we were able to take an hour to do some much needed smiling.

Goodnight.🩷

Reflecting on what's so special about my deafblind Reflecting on what's so special about my deafblind dog Piglet, and our other 7 rescued dogs, I realize why I feel I should post about them today.

When we visit children in schools all around the US, our mission is compassion and kindness as well as being positive and resilient like Piglet and his pack. These are important lessons for children which are being taught in ALL schools.

We bring our impactful version with our adorable engaging dogs. Children and staff laugh and smile as they leave inspired to be kind to themselves and others.

Our motto- Kindness is King- takes front and center stage in our new updated Piglet Mindset School Visits for 2026.

We are going to be celebrating our tiny deaf blind dog Piglet tomorrow night with our yearly Zoom Party for Piggy. When you purchase a ticket you are supporting our Piglet School Visit Program as described above. When you attend you will likely feel inspired to be compassionate and kind as well.🩷

There is nothing more important than instilling a sense of compassion and kindness for others, in the thousands of children Piglet, Georgie, Evie, and the other dogs touch each year.

Thanks for all your support! It means so much.🩷
