Piglet Mindset® School Visits

Our program is entertaining and fun, but the primary goal of our Piglet Mindset School Visits is to emphasize and reinforce Piglet's message and lessons of positivity, resilience, compassion, and kindness.

Classroom and school visits begin with a short Powerpoint presentation. We follow with a live tap signal demo by Piglet and his deafblind brother Georgie. We do a short Q & A if there's time.

The format is flexible, adaptable, and can be customized to different size groups and number of presentations requested. We realistically can do 3 one hour presentations in one day.

Zoom, Facetime, or Google Meet Sessions are a virtual alternative to an in-person school or classroom visit. Virtual Visits with Piglet and his pack are adaptable to a wide range of applications throughout the school year. Virtual sessions are a great addition to an end of the school year Pink Party.

ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org.

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

Trying to be thankful for all the memories.🩷 Goin Trying to be thankful for all the memories.🩷

Going from 8 to 6 dogs in six weeks is unimaginable. It literally feels like we don't have enough dogs. Yet we do, because the dogs we have are also grieving and adjusting to their new pack dynamics.

I count dogs because there are so many that I have to be careful not to leave somebody outside or in the car or upstairs in the bedroom when we're leaving the house or having a meal or going to bed. So it feels very empty to have either three sets of two, or two sets of three, rather than the larger group with another two added.

Every single minute of the day is a reminder that not only are the two recent dogs who we've lost, Evie and Dean, not here, but I haven't gotten over the loss of Gina one year ago. I guess I'm used to not having Susie here because she's been gone five years already.

But looking at old videos really does bring back the happiest memories that remind me of why I got all of these dogs when we had a rule that we would be a 2-dog max family.

As they say, rules are meant to be broken, and this was a rule that was doomed from the start for very good reason.

Piglet is fine. We've been very focused on our lit Piglet is fine. We've been very focused on our little Evie the last few weeks. He's not neglected in any way.

But we do appreciate the concern of those who asked. And also all the support we are receiving as we process the loss of our precious dog Evita.🩷
How are the dogs all doing 2 days after losing the How are the dogs all doing 2 days after losing their sister?

They are all sad, subdued, and obviously miss her.

1. Zoey is following me around the house and it is so sad to see her alone.😞
2. Annie peeks around the corner to see if Evie is in her little bed by the window.😞
3. Lucy is supportive of everyone, dogs and humans.😊
4. Georgie brings cuteness relief. He's kind of oblivious.
5. Ruby is very quiet compared to her norm.😞
6. Piglet is trying to be cheerful and then he needs a nappy.🩷

Side note- The humans are a mess.😞

I can't even show just how sad it is here right now. We are all missing our very special sweet Evita more than words can describe. I feel like she was ripped away from me on Tuesday. Being a vet and unable to offer anything more to help my own dog is just horrifying. I'm thankful I was able to relieve her pain and give her dignity as we said goodbye. But that wasn't my first choice.🩷
Losing a dog like our little Evie brings indescrib Losing a dog like our little Evie brings indescribable pain. It's hard to get away from the reminders that she's missing because she was with me literally all the time.

If you were one of the tens of thousands lucky enough to meet her at a meet and greet, at a school visit, in a store, or on the beach, you were touched by her special kindness. She made sure everyone felt her love.

I have posted videos of Evie over the last few months that show her at her absolute best.

She fought cancer with dignity until the very end. I'm thankful that she only had a few "bad" days as we came to the realization yesterday that it was time to let her rest.

❤️❤️❤️

We really need some comic relief here right now an We really need some comic relief here right now and this little clip of Piglet from the Past provides the sweetest 30 second break from reality.

Were you following Piglet in his shirt diving days?
How do I explain to my deaf blind dog Piglet that How do I explain to my deaf blind dog Piglet that his Favorite Dad is going to be away in Germany for the next 10 days? Oy.
As with all of my other older dogs, I did not make As with all of my other older dogs, I did not make a bucket list for my little Evie. We do everything we can to give my dogs full, meaningful, and productive lives. I have no regrets about not doing certain things with my dogs in the past or currently. There's no outstanding debt.

What I am doing now for Evie, is spending as much time as possible with her along with all the other dogs. I think we are all in agreement, that that's what we should be doing right now.

She has visited hundreds of schools, she's flown across the country numerous times to be with me at veterinary conferences, and last year our California Piglet Mindset tour. We've also done a road trip across the country and back for our book tour a few years ago. She only missed one school visit this year when she was really not up to it in January.

There's nothing that we need to quickly do with Evie at this point considering how amazing her life has been. The same goes for all the other dogs. If I felt like a bucket list was necessary at the end I would definitely create it much earlier, so there was no need to rush through a list.

Right now, I am grateful that Evie feels good enough to follow me around with her little friend Zoey, looking for treats. This is one of the things I'm definitely gonna miss the most.

But in the meantime, I am really trying hard to keep things normal and smile when I see her doing her usual adorable Evie stuff.

Evie is not a complainer. She has always been a really happy uplifting dog. And that is the way she is now even when she feels weaker and just not 100%. I'm watching her very closely for signs that she's becoming too uncomfortable. For now, we will relax and stay present as we should always.
