ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

PIGLET AND GEORGIE'S KINDNESS CLUB

Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club has been created to encourage children to bring Kindness Campaigns to their communities. Examples of Kindness activities include running a food drive and delivering the food to local food pantries, or raising awareness for animal rescues by collecting dog and cat food and other supplies for their local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Some children might be interested in organizing book drives where they raise funds and support so they can purchase and donate books to head start programs, community day cares, school libraries, and individual children.

There are so many ways to bring kindness into the community.

We hope Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club will motivate everyone to remember to be kind!

Sometimes adjustments are needed before full sleep Sometimes adjustments are needed before full sleep can occur for such a tiny pink dog who happens to be deaf and blind.

Good night sweet Piglet🩷
Dean is having some sort of allergic reaction righ Dean is having some sort of allergic reaction right now. He made sure to let me know which I'm so happy he thought to do. He got Benadryl.

Hoping this resolves quickly and that I can figure out what triggered it. This never happens to Dean. I don't know what it's from.

Coincidentally, a little while before Dean started, Piglet was also having an allergic reaction to something. He got Benadryl.

BTW- Dean normally snores very loudly.

Since 14 1/2 year old Dean is declining rapidly, I Since 14 1/2 year old Dean is declining rapidly, I wanted to be sure we got some really nice geriatric photos of him on the beach while the weather is nice and everyone is feeling relatively good.

The plan was to take pictures of Dean with me, but as I was there with him alone on the beach, given that he does not like getting his picture taken, I realize that the best way to manage our photo shoot was to include all of the dogs.

This is no easy task because the older dogs don't hear well anymore and we have two younger deaf blind dogs.
Plus, Lucy is prey driven, and if a chipmunk comes by while we're not holding her leash, we could possibly lose her.

My photographer friend Joan encouraged me to take advantage of the amazing lighting and beautiful beach, and bring all the dogs out for a group photo.

Not to be too emotional because that's been my theme lately, but this was such an amazing afternoon filled with sweet dogs all there together posing, eating treats, and being adorable.

I highly recommend that you do the same with your older dogs. In fact, it doesn't matter how old they are, this should be done regularly as I have over the last 14 years with this group. It was so refreshing to be there in the moment, enjoying the couple of hours we spent all together.

It's deaf dog awareness week. Here's a selection It's deaf dog awareness week.

Here's a selection of favorite pictures of baby and young man Piglet, the deaf blind pink puppy when his nose was purely pink.

Piglet looks quite innocent in all of these pictures, but he was a handful. He's a quirky, funny, smart adorable little dog.

From the very beginning, despite his severe anxiety and separation issues as a baby, his determination to know where he is, know who he's with, and attention to every last detail, no matter what he's doing, make him a stand out.

Among the many things he's done on his social media platforms, in his Piglet mindset education program, and as an ambassador for disabled pets, his positivity towards his challenges specifically being deaf and blind is inspirational to so many for so many reasons. Yes this is a run-on sentence and I don't care.

I hope you enjoy the selection of baby Piglet pictures and remember that deaf, blind, and deafblind dogs have such potential to live exceptional outstanding high-quality lives. We hope you'll consider a deaf and/or blind dog when you're ready to adopt a new friend.🩷🐾🩷
Annie is our behind the scenes family member. This Annie is our behind the scenes family member. This is intentional on her part because she does not like to be in videos or pictures, and she absolutely doesn't like anybody paying any attention to her other than when she is happy and wants to be petted.

She worries about getting her nails cut or her hair brushed or worst of all being groomed by the Dog Groomer who comes in a truck.

She is very temperamental about her eating. It's almost like she has an eating disorder because it takes a lot to get her to eat a meal. Sometimes she has to go into a room by herself with the door closed. Sometimes she eats on her regular bed in the living room on top of a dog crate. But she never eats out of a dog bowl on the floor. This probably started when the other dogs tried to take her food when she was younger because she eats so slowly.

We work it out with Annie but after being sick for a few days, she is having a little trouble getting back into her normal eating routine so it's taking a little bit of work.

But we are very happy to report that her blood work is completely normal. She seems to be healthy following her G.I. episode last weekend.

Stay tuned and we'll try to show a video of Annie eating.

The absolute truth about the decision to rehome Be The absolute truth about the decision to rehome Betty B White.

Rational me- I preach that the match and the fit are the most important part of bringing a new dog into a home. That means any dog- rescue dogs or buying from a breeder.

The more dogs there are already in the family, and the more complicated the household and lifestyle are, the more specific things become for a new dog.

The best intentions from all parties, including rescuers, fosters, the new human and dog family, and the new dog themselves, do not guarantee success. Dogs behave differently in different situations which is not always predictable.

If I had gone into bringing Baby Betty here as a foster mom, right now, after 2 1/2 weeks without her, I would miss her but I'd be ok.

Now the emotional me-
But I wasn't her foster mom. I fully intended to keep her forever. I invested my whole soul into achieving success for her, my other dogs, and our human family. I love her so deeply that while I think all about being rational and responsible, I am not ok.

I'm not ok giving up a dog I love and wanted to love longer than 9 weeks. When I look at her pictures I cry. When I think of my big fail as her mom, I'm filled with grief.

She is alive and safe. I'm very lucky to have a good friend who stepped up to take Betty and give her a place to decompress with good dog friends to play with and safe loving support.

I'm really worried about my inability to let go. It's a very strange feeling. There are a few things I didn't try that I really wish I had. I question the whole process, which I put all of my energy, thought, and expertise into.
Analyzing every minute is not healthy but that's where I am.

I am giving my 7 dogs all that I can. They are such a beautiful team. I appreciate each one of them and their contribution into our family. They are like a really easy puzzle all put together. They always have been despite some puppy challenges which is expected.

I'm sure others have been through this emotional ride.

I wish I could do it all over again with Baby B with a little different approach and mindset.🩷
It may not be easy, but it will be worth it. Who s It may not be easy, but it will be worth it. Who said this?

So so true though.

Would Piglet, the deaf blind pink puppy remember or would he have to totally remap the house?

Of course he needed to do a reminder sweep of the area to make sure everything was in the same place.

But he absolutely remembered the house, and within minutes, he was right at home!

Piglet is awesome. He pays attention to details and he doesn't forget! He's a very special symbol of positivity for everyone to learn from!

Check out the original mapping video from 2 years ago to compare. It's in our stories.
