ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

PIGLET AND GEORGIE'S KINDNESS CLUB

Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club has been created to encourage children to bring Kindness Campaigns to their communities. Examples of Kindness activities include running a food drive and delivering the food to local food pantries, or raising awareness for animal rescues by collecting dog and cat food and other supplies for their local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Some children might be interested in organizing book drives where they raise funds and support so they can purchase and donate books to head start programs, community day cares, school libraries, and individual children.

There are so many ways to bring kindness into the community.

We hope Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club will motivate everyone to remember to be kind!

It's a strange thing and I know I'm not alone. On It's a strange thing and I know I'm not alone.
One of the hardest things about loving my Gina was when I would walk out of the house without her. Whether it was for a quick trip to the store when it was too hot for her to wait in the car, or a 2 week trip that she couldn't come on, I would end up feeling so sad or even crying as I left.

As I knew our time together was coming to a close, my mind wandered all over the place. I actually thought that at least it would be easier to leave the house. Not having to deal with her pleading eyes and dancing around as if she was coming with me, might make it easier to leave.

Ha. Not so at all. Now, I long for the feeling of her nagging me to take her. Of course this is exactly what I knew would happen. But for a little instant, looking for comfort in any way, I thought it would be one worry to shed.

I left last night without her watching me and pacing as I packed a few things. It was the absolute worst. And our next old dog Dean has taken up her role in making me feel horrible leaving. It's not that he or any of them are ever left alone. But dogs want to be with their family.

Anyway, there are other things that happen in line with looking for relief from grief. I'm guessing that others have similar thoughts and experiences which you can share below.🩷🩷

Just because I have a lot of dogs doesn't mean tha Just because I have a lot of dogs doesn't mean that I want your dog here too. We don't board dogs and we can't take on other people's dog problems as we are frequently asked.

We love dogs and want to help as many as we can, in a logical way. We carefully evaluate and spend time making decisions when bringing new dogs into our family. We respect the dogs we have and want to be sure everyone is comfortable with any changes to the pack.

We expect the adjustment for everyone to take months and we are patient, giving everyone a chance to settle into the new norm.

A neighbor stopped by our fence to ask if I had a dog daycare here bc she thought her dog would have a great time joining the group. Little did she know that our tiny brown dog Zoey is extremely dog reactive. And our dogs aren't interested in socializing that way.

When dogs do come to visit, it upsets dog reactive Zoey and basically throws the whole group into stress mode. They might not be aggressive but there are a lot of personalities here. Everyone is in synch and it doesn't take much to throw them off.

So, while we like dogs, what we've achieved with our dogs has taken a great deal of time and energy to build camaraderie and symbiosis through the group.

Adding a dog even for a few hours or days isn't so simple.

How do your dog packs do with new dog visitors inside and outside the house?

Still having trouble wrapping my mind around the r Still having trouble wrapping my mind around the reality of losing my Gina. The empty spaces are haunting and so so sad at times. Waiting for them to fill in a bit but will always keep her space in my heart and mind.

The other dogs are managing but still very sad. Especially her bff Deanie. He has the support of all the others which is a big help.
