ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

PIGLET AND GEORGIE'S KINDNESS CLUB

Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club has been created to encourage children to bring Kindness Campaigns to their communities. Examples of Kindness activities include running a food drive and delivering the food to local food pantries, or raising awareness for animal rescues by collecting dog and cat food and other supplies for their local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Some children might be interested in organizing book drives where they raise funds and support so they can purchase and donate books to head start programs, community day cares, school libraries, and individual children.

There are so many ways to bring kindness into the community.

We hope Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club will motivate everyone to remember to be kind!

This is not a goodnight video. My little 8 1/2 y This is not a goodnight video.

My little 8 1/2 year old deafblind dog Piglet had minor surgery today to remove a couple of skin masses. Here he is sleeping comfortably on his couch at home post op.

Why would we give him general anesthesia for such an "easy" minor procedure?

Piglet would have sat still but he would have been very scared and upset if we had chosen to use local amesthesia. Instead of putting him through the anxiety an awake surgery would have caused we safely anesthetized him for the short time it took to remove the masses.

We were also able to clip his nails, clean his ears and do a small amount of dental cleaning as well.

He had a full pre-anesthesia workup and exam so we elected to go this route. If there were outstanding health issues then we would have made alternate plans.

He had a little lunch when he got home but is still feeling the sedating effects of the painless he was given.

Now our biggest challenge is to keep him from chewing his sutures out!

Baby Piglet came into my life bc I didn't have the heart to say no. As it turns out, this one particular yes was life changing.

Against all stares and glares, warnings and ridicule, I followed my gut.

I get to be the one to bring this tiny pink dog into bed with me every night, which, in turn, gives me the most precious adorable sweet way to wake up every single morning. Eight full years of it.

Here is a group of pre-adoption pics of Foster Baby Piglet, the deaf blind pink puppy. Can you even believe how adorable our little pink puppy was. And if you scroll to the end you can see that he's maintained his cuteness as an adult.

My deafblind dog Piglet can't see hand signals and My deafblind dog Piglet can't see hand signals and he can't hear my voice so I teach him touch and tap signals to communicate with him.

Piglet is a literal and very resourceful boy. When I tapped him to go to his bed, his baby brother was taking up the whole bed. So after some quick thinking, Piggy found an alternate bed to do his twisty, sit, and get a treat.

To everyone who predicted that Piglet would have a dark, silent, poor quality of life, it's time to change your mindset!🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷

Annie, our 13 1/2 year old, 11 pound, chihuahua-po Annie, our 13 1/2 year old, 11 pound, chihuahua-poodle mix was rescued in southern CA. She was very sick with pneumonia but after a few weeks she improved and I was able to fly to CA to pick her up.

Annie was and always has been a very sweet, shy, easy dog who fit right in with our large dog pack.

Fast forward to this past year as Annie turned 13 and started to "show her age". She became more withdrawn, less enthusiastic about eating, would pull backwards on our walks, and gradually lost her hearing. #ad

I decided to start Annie on Leap Years, an NAD+ supplement that supports improved cognition and a feeling of well-being in middle to older aged dogs. Within a couple of weeks, Annie was noticeably more engaged, playing with toys, racing across the backyard, and excited to go with the other dogs on walks. Her eating improved and so did her overall demeanor.

When our oldest dog Gina was very sick, I was so overwhelmed with grief about her that I mistakenly stopped giving Leap Years to Annie. Annie became more quiet and withdrawn, which I attributed to her own grief about Gina’s illness and passing. A few weeks ago I started Annie back on Leap Years and not surprisingly, within a short time, we had our happy sweet little Annie back. The consistency of giving Leap Years daily really became clear to me.

There's no question that Leap Years has helped Annie to feel more engaged and happy. Take a look at her adorable videos and pics from her babyhood until now.

Is it fair to compare the dogs of the past with th Is it fair to compare the dogs of the past with the dogs of the present? I think so; because they were all awesome as youngsters and as old sweet frosted faced seniors. And the new dogs are right in line with the dogs of the past!

This video made me cry some serious tears today. I miss our little Susie and Gina. I am so happy to have memories like this to watch and share.🩷🐾🩷🐾🩷

Vet Tips Tuesday Deanie is 14 1/2. He's been havi Vet Tips Tuesday

Deanie is 14 1/2. He's been having way more bad days than good days re his mobility. He's eating and aware but he hasn't been able to get up and walk much for the past week. His harness has been a big help in supporting him as he moves around.

Sunday morning was pretty rough. He could hardly stand up but insisted on slipping around on our deck floor when we were doing Father's Day. He eventually went inside for a nap.

Then by the evening, he ran out the door with the other dogs, raced around the yard, and "flew" up the stairs to wish his dad a happy dad's day.

Yesterday we checked his bloodwork to see if anything new was contributing to his decline. Thankfully, it was totally normal which is great news. He even relaxed for his laser therapy.

We're switching out his antiinflammatory med to see if we can get a better response from a new one. Sometimes one med will work better than another for individual dogs, especially after they've been taking one for a long time.

Do your older dogs have ups and downs like Deanie?
