ANIMAL ADVOCACY & PIGLET'S RESCUE FUND

Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia when he was a newborn puppy. While Piglet was fortunate to have found a devoted loving family, there are many dogs like him still looking for their forever homes. Through our social media pages, Piglet has become an ambassador for disabled rescued animals.

Our advocacy efforts and Piglet's Rescue Fund were set up to:

  • Educate about and advocate for rescued animals through our social media pages, Piglet Mindset® educational program, as well as webinars on a number of veterinary topics

  • Encourage spay and neuter of dogs and cats in light of the pet overpopulation problem

  • Motivate individuals to adopt rescued pets, especially those who are disabled

  • Provide funding to rescue organizations that focus on disabled dogs and other animals

  • Support for The Disabled Pets Project, a comprehensive resource for veterinarians, pet parents, and rescuers who care for disabled pets. The website is disabledpets.org

  • The fund is supported by direct donations as well as a portion of all Piglet merchandise sales.

PIGLET AND GEORGIE'S KINDNESS CLUB

Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club has been created to encourage children to bring Kindness Campaigns to their communities. Examples of Kindness activities include running a food drive and delivering the food to local food pantries, or raising awareness for animal rescues by collecting dog and cat food and other supplies for their local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Some children might be interested in organizing book drives where they raise funds and support so they can purchase and donate books to head start programs, community day cares, school libraries, and individual children.

There are so many ways to bring kindness into the community.

We hope Piglet and Georgie's Kindness Club will motivate everyone to remember to be kind!

Teaching Betty B White "Look" The Look is so imp Teaching
Betty B White "Look"

The Look is so important for all dogs to make eye contact with their person. It's good for bonding and communication.

Teaching a deaf dog Look is especially useful in keeping their attention. They need to learn to check in with their person.

Guess who's doing really well with her "Look"?

Not shown is the signal for "good dog" which is a thumbs up to signal that she's doing what she's been asked, in this case, looking into my eyes.

Apologies to everyone who was upset by my story po Apologies to everyone who was upset by my story post saying we were on our way back to Ohio to return our Baby Betty White.

It was a joke created bc this is THE MOST CHALLENGING puppy we have ever brought home. It's not that we don't love her. She is precious adorable and sweet. But she is huge, and she playfully and wildly pounces and nips at our tiny dogs, among other things. We are working with her on these herding dog instincts and we are making progress. Ironically, our little Piglet likes her which probably says it all about this baby Betty.

I rarely tell the whole story bc I don't want to complain about my dogs on Piglet's accounts. Having some playful sarcasm seems to backfire every time. This time I got called a liar, told I was not the person I make myself out to be, and that they expect more from me bc clearly I was callously returning a puppy.

Just a quick note- if that were the case, it would be for good reason. Sometimes new dogs are just not compatible with current family dogs. It's not always possible to predict exactly what will happen when a new dog enters the house. There is always a settling in period but when safety is an issue, it's better to cut our losses before something bad happens.

We are not in this position right now but I think it's important to convey that a few cute videos are not the whole picture.

In the meantime, our Baby Betty is improving with her impulse control and putting in a noticeable effort not to clobber our little dogs. She is also learning to chill instead of bark nonstop when not right with one of her people. This is extremely commendable for a 13 week old puppy.

Stay tuned for more Baby Betty B White. We hope you'll love her as much as we do.

We weren't going to but we did. My husband Warren We weren't going to but we did. My husband Warren insisted.

Taking a leap of faith into the unknown of dog adoption can be a bit scary. We do not need to have 8 dogs. But even with 7 dogs, the empty space left by the loss of our beautiful double merle white Aussie Border Collie mix has been unbearable.

This double merle deaf Aussie puppy was in great need of a home. She was in MI. A breeder sold her but she was returned bc she is deaf. Thankfully @pawsaversrescue stepped up with an amazing foster in MI. The "breeder's" other option for her is unspeakable. She's supposedly 12 weeks old and 18 pounds. Her feet are huge.

Meet Betty B White. AKA- Terry for Terror.
This precious sweet smart and yes, Beautiful, girl is adorable. Everything she does, except her need for some solid puppy work, is awesome. She immediately was running up and down the ramp and she loves everyone she meets.

The little dogs aren't delighted. This is expected when bringing in a larger sized dog. But she is already learning to respect their space and small stature.

As you can see, we LOVE our new baby girl. Bonus- she is very much like our Beautiful Gina who we still deeply miss.

Stay tuned for lots more Betty B White cuteness.
